Litter A:
The Angel Litter was our first litter under the Dazzledot prefix, as well as Alley's. We had suspected from the very begining she was going to have a large litter, & with six & a half hours between the first & the last puppy born we had 13 healthy puppies with no complications. Unfortunately for us our first litter would not be as straight forward as expected. Alley came down with Mastitis when the pups were only 4 days old, & we lost 5 puppies that night. From then on we had to hand rear the remaining 8 puppies ourselves, while Alley recovered from her Mastitis. At 10 days old, three of our puppies came down with the fading puppy syndrom, requiring us to tube feed them every 2 hours round the clock for 12 hours, two of which survived. In the end we had four boys & three girls, one boy was discovered to be deaf at the Bear testing & had to be put down. It took Alley four weeks to start eating on her own, until then wanting to be hand feed, & for her Mastitis to fully recover, but was never able to join her puppies. Thankfully for us & the pups, Comet took over the role as foster mum & dad at 4 weeks of age, teaching them all their real mother would of & giving them some extra love & attention they would of got from their mother. With everything bad that happened, we had a lot of good. They were a beautiful litter, very easy going, taking to hand rearing with no real problems, all good eaters, & strangely loving the worming syrup, LOL, there were no dominant puppies or submissive puppies, & like all dalmatian puppies were very clean. We were even more lucky to have not one, but four, two male & two female, show potentials. We know all first litters hold a special place in every breeders heart, but this litter is even more special, & has taught us a lot about rearing a litter. Our true "Little Angels"
